Since announcing our partnership with the American Red Cross, we’ve been busy behind the scenes creating more ways to bring awareness to the urgent need for blood donations during this pandemic.

Coming soon to a free update near you, a slogan you can drive! Get behind the wheel with our new Bloodmobile, and put your commitment to saving lives into gear. This is a limited time vehicle that will be in our next update — we can’t tell you the exact date right now, but look for it later this month.

In the past few months of living under quarantine and working from home, a couple of us at Undead Labs have donated blood with the Red Cross. We can tell you firsthand that the process is safe, socially distanced, and comfortable.

  • When greeted at check-in, a volunteer will take your temperature and give you a mask if you don’t already have one, however all individuals are urged to arrive wearing a mask or face covering.
  • Before the actual donation, they’ll review your health history to ensure you are feeling well and eligible to donate, then you’ll get your temperature taken again
  • During your donation you’ll be distanced from other donors. In our experience, there were only two donors in the entire space, and we were probably 30 or more feet apart
  • All Red Cross staff wear masks and gloves the entire time, and gloves are changed between donations. All surfaces are entirely disinfected between donations. Staff are regularly monitored for COVID-19 symptoms
  • Start to finish, a donation takes about an hour. Afterward, you’ll find out your blood type and where your donation ends up going. Now, for a limited time, the Red Cross is also testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies

And let’s not forget the best part — the juice and treats after your donation! As a State of Decay 2 player, you’ll appreciate the importance of snacks to revive your stamina. When we donated, we had our choice of blood-sugar boosting tropical juices, mini Oreos, and gummy candies in a massive, empty room where stations of snacks and drinks were spaced out well beyond CDC minimums.

Remember, blood is vital and cannot be stockpiled. Every two seconds, someone in the United States urgently needs a blood transfusion, and your donation may save more than one life.

In this pandemic, we need to all look out for each other. Schedule your blood donation today.

Together, we survive.
