Zombie Types
Each zombie enemy has a normal version and a Blood Plague variant. The Blood Plague variants are much harder to deal with since they increase the amount of blood plague damage dealt as well as having increased stats overall. Plan accordingly!
Zeds
The enemy you’ll run into the most in the world. While easy to deal with compared to the others, their strength is in numbers! It’s most strategic and effective to stealth melee kill them or run them over with your car. Either way, take them out before you find yourself surrounded.
Ferals
A freakishly fast and aggressive zombie type that runs on all fours. Melee is pretty much not an option and you should opt to try to trap it with your vehicle or just gun it down. Blood Plague versions have increased health and cannot be run down with a vehicle unless you get tricky.
Screamers
While not a strong variant, beware the Screamer. As its name says, this zombie has a piercing scream that summons zombies to its location if disturbed in any way. This includes the tougher zombies like ferals and sometimes even Juggernauts! You can take this zombie out like the standard ones but you have to be quick about it.
Bloaters
Bloaters are a different type of menace. While they are easy to dispose of, beware of being too close when they pop as they release a gas that can damage you (and your vehicle!) and as a blood plague variant, a bloater can cause significant blood plague damage over time.
Juggernauts
Juggernauts are the toughest enemy in the game. These enormous zombies are surprisingly fast for their size and have an incredible amount of health and deal wicked damage. Taking one down requires a bit of preparation but they can be damaged with all weapons and melee attacks. Molotov cocktails or a well timed explosive can also go a long way to surviving the fight. The Blood Plague version of the Juggernaut has a ground pound attack that leaves a pool of blood plague on the ground, making it hard to get close.
Special Variants
As you continue to explore the world, you’ll encounter special variants of our standard zombies. Some may be as simple as being equipped with military armor while others are downright amusing.
