Xbox players, prepare to join the Hall of Fame!

This Microsoft-sponsored challenge is all about rewarding your Xbox skills! To win the State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition challenge, you’ll need to find the right combination of swift and deadly. Read on for all the details.

Play And Win

To win the State of Decay 2 portion of the Xbox challenge, you must clear a new map of plague hearts as quickly as possible, in Single Player, on Standard difficulty or higher, on an Xbox console. The fastest times determine the winners.

But First…

In order to be eligible, you must sign up at the official page of the Xbox Hall of Fame challenge, xbox.com/HoF. This contest is only open to Xbox console players.

For your first challenge, sign up as fast as you can! See? This is good training.

Here’s What To Do

Here are some crucial details you need to know:

  • The contest begins at 12:01 AM on October 16th and ends 11:59 PM on October 18th, Pacific time. Set your clocks!
  • You do not need to start a new community, you can use an existing community. Yes, even legacy characters — more on that below.
  • The “starting gun” for the speed run is when you initialize the new map. To do this, you have the option to map travel to any other map, or use the Map difficulty slider under Advanced Difficulty settings, to restart the map you’re on. The clock starts when you move to or refresh your map.
  • The challenge stops when you kill the last plague heart.
  • Xbox players will see a special Hall of Fame banner on their pause screen. When playing, it shows you the current timer, or the final time once you have defeated all the plague hearts (you must hit pause to see the banner and your final time).
  • You can repeat your speed run as many times as you want during the contest. Your best time will be kept if you do multiple runs.

…And What Not To Do

We’ve taken precautions to keep the challenge as fair as possible. If you have modded your game or received modded equipment or characters, this applies to you. If this doesn’t apply to you, feel free to skip to the next section.

If you attempt to begin the challenge with hacked or modded weapons equipped, you will see an informational error notification instead of a timer on the banner when you hit pause, and you will be redirected to this page for more information.

Vehicles, weapons, and characters — including legacy characters — that have been modified through save-file hacking or other means will be disqualified from the competition. Be careful to not carry over any legacy characters that have been modified as this will also disqualify you.

If you have disqualifying vehicles, weapons or characters, or aren’t sure if you do, the best thing is to create a new community specifically for the challenge. You can still bring over unmodified legacy characters.

FAQ

Q: What are Error Codes 81/82/83/84? (Updated October 15)

These error codes indicate that your community has been flagged due to external file editing, or due to multiplayer interactions with modified weapons or characters. You may be able to clear the error by moving your community to a new map. If the error persists, you will need to start a new community (using any legacy characters and boons you’ve legitimately earned) to qualify for the Xbox Hall of Fame.

Q: Why am I not eligible due to multi-player or cross-platform play?

Communities which haven’t changed maps recently may show these messages if the game cannot determine eligibility of the current map. Don’t worry! You’ll become eligible again as soon as you move to a new map.

Q: Does it matter which map?

No, it can be any of the four core maps (excluding Heartland), it just needs to be a fresh map.

Q: Can I use my legacy characters and boons?

You can bring and use both! Just make sure your legacy characters are not hacked or modded in any way (see above).

Q: Can I stream while I speed run?

Absolutely, get your community to cheer you on!

Q: How many times can I attempt the challenge?

As many times as you want before the cutoff of 11:59pm PT on October 18th! Your personal best time will be used as your contest entry.

Q: Oops, I forgot to officially register but I completed the challenge. Anything I can do?

As long as it’s before the contest cutoff of 11:59pm PT on October 18th, you can still register at xbox.com/hof. We highly recommend not doing it in the reverse order, though. If you think you’d like to participate but aren’t sure, go ahead and register now to be on the safe side.

Q: I’m on PC, can I enter this contest?

This is an Xbox-sponsored contest, celebrating Xbox players and the launch of the next console, the Xbox Series X and Series S. To participate, you must play on an Xbox console.

Q: What will I win?

For the full list of prizes (and it’s a good one), visit the official site.

Q: How will I know if I won?

Winners will be contacted directly by Microsoft after all entries have been vetted and confirmed according to the official contest Terms and Conditions. We apologize, but we cannot provide specific information on the status of your entry. For details, see https://www.xbox.com/en-US/promotions/hall-of-fame-terms.
